Alright! Time to get back into shape already!

Man, it's been quite some time over the winter since I have done much besides working at the computer everyday. All the good stuff I was doing to take of my health last year seems to be going down the tubes.

I'm looking to get into a cool new active hobby to get me stoked on getting back into shape again.

I'm just wondering what other people are doing to get back into shape since the weather is improving?

Hi! This is my first post. I'm a dancer and a dance teacher. I have the oppurtunity to train and take class as well as teach. As summer break approaches, I keep telling my kids to continue to stretch and do our class warm-up over the summer. I am, however finding it hard to motivate myself to continue to train and stretch over the summer. I don't want to be a hypocrite, but I don't feel inspired to work out every day. Does anyone know a way to inspire me to work out through summer break?

One of the biggest factors for sabotaging your new good intensions. New Years resolutions, for starting a new life, getting in shape. Is the motivation. Many of us trainees, can recognize it very well, we simply just dont wanna hit the gym, for some reason. Trainees that has been working out for years, are aware of it and most of us knows how to handle it, so it becomes a part of out work out cyklus. As a personal trainer I have seen many times, people with the best intentions, fail because of lack of motivation. How can we handle this?

I had my first run yesterday and made it to from watermans to trigg in 32 minutes.

A good first effort. Now I only need to keep it going :)

I figure if I write stuff down it will keep me motivated to check back and keep it up.

And today I got back in the gym. I couldn't manage the 3rd rep but its early days and if I can string 3 more sessions together I think I will be able to do it.

Also on the plus side I managed to get through the 2 reps in a hour. So in theory I should be able to 3 in a little over a hour and a half :)

Anyway back to everything else I have to do.

A few weeks ago I decided I was going to actually commit to losing weight - 10 pounds in 3 months. I was going to be 110 by Thanksgiving (I'm short, so no worries, still within healthy range for me). I've always been thin, but I enjoy working out and I would like it to show a little more and like all women, I have trouble spots on my body that could spare a few pounds. I went for it for about a week before giving up. It's hard to stay motivated when you don't have weight that you actually HAVE to lose. Since then, I've actually gained weight!

Hello ladies, how is your motivation. I did well last week but haven't set foot in my gym all week. My motivation sure isn't what it use to be. I need a pick me up. It is so hard when you feel like you life is busy all the time. I can't get motivated if my house is a mess. Help. I think structure is in order and better time management, you think. Well, it's never too late to start..........again.

Happy sweating,
Sarah Beara

I'm not suffering from severe body image issues. In fact, I think I have a pretty cute butt and a nice rack. Nevertheless, there is room for improvement. I'd like to be healthier and I would love to rock a pair of skinny jeans (not there quite yet, a few too many curves). Basically, the love of my life (my fiance) is in the military and will be getting leave for a visit in September before he ships out to Iraq. I want to be as svelte as possible so he can leave with an image of what he gets to come home to. Not to mention I'd like to fit into a wedding dress with a single digit number.

This is my 3d day in a row, waking up early and getting my workout done. I feel great. This morning was pretty tough, not only waking up, but about 1/2 way through my run, I was feeling pretty sick (nauseous). And felt sick like that after the run for a little while. What really worried me was that I'll think about that next week when it's time to workout and that will be an excuse not to get up and work out. I really want my workouts to be fun. In the end, I decided that it's only the 3d day and I will have some days that I don't feel so good, but my body will adapt and get used to waking up and excercising early.

So my motivation has finally caught up with my intentions and the result is that I now have a consecutive day count of two (2). My plan is to alternate cardio and MSE (muscular strength endurance) days.

For me the key is getting up early to get my workouts done before I hit the office. My life is pretty busy and I have to get my fitness in before the sun comes up, otherwise I'm probably not going to get it done (at least not at this point in my fitness training).

There are two other elements to my plan for success; the first is this blog. I want to get involved in a community of like-minded people with whom I can share success and stories, and generally gain motivation from and help provide motivation to. The last element of my plan for success is my diet. I'm currently using myplate.com to track all my food intake, as well as my excercises for calories burnt.

Last month I took 2 weeks off from going to the gym, due to being sick, and then procrastination. Now I have been actively going to the gym 6 days a week for the past couple weeks and it feels great. By May 28th I will have the abs I want and be on my way to the body I want.
