Crossover Ab Crunch
Exercise Steps
Lie on your back with your knees up and your feet on the floot. Cross your left leg over your right leg. Your left ankle should rest just below your right knee, making a triangle between your legs. Put your right hand behind your head, with your right elbow extended to the side. Rest your head and album on the floor. Place your left hand on your right obliques or at your left side.
Now, contract your abdominal muscles to pull your upper body up so your right elbow touches your left knee.
Lower, and repeat. After you finish, do the exercise over with the opposite side.

variation
I do a variation on this where I don't put my foot on my knee; I lift the knee of that foot towards me, while the other foot is planted. Also, I alternate left right left right.
feel the burn
whenever I do any crunch I always make sure I do it slowly and man does the burn ever happen quickly then
Oh boy.
This looks like the kind of thing that'll make me hurl, but I'll give it a shot!
re: variation
i find that if i do it the way you do, i tend to end up rolling to the side unless i'm careful to keep my balance.
I think I will try to do
I think I will try to do that too. I think I do crunches wrong otherwise since I don't feel anything.
instead of "album"
i think you mean "elbow"?
:)
Re: instead of "album"
@embryodb: Haha, I noticed that, too. At first I thought maybe the writer was British or something, though. ;)
oh man this isnt that easy
oh man this isnt that easy as it looks
Agreed
This is not as easy as it looks. Last night i did a lot of crunches. This one was one of the hardest! But i will keep doing it. Maybe it was only hard because i got a big beer belly Haha.
No, not easy!
No, it's not easy but keep it slow and if you don't feel the burn in the next day or two after you do the crunches, try to concentrate on making the muscle lift you don't use your arms and back, you'll just hurt your neck and shoulders. The only reason you lace your hands behind your head is to support your head and neck. All the work must come from the muscles. Focus soley on making the muscle work; you may not be able to bring yourself up very far at first, but trust me, soon you'll get there! Good luck to all!
